YOUR CAMPAIGN, YOUR COPIES
Data & backups
Choose a topic to see where your work is stored, what players can see, and how to recover it.
Save on this device or in the cloud?
Your campaign saves in this browser. Device uploads, character equipment, story notes and saved battles stay here until you download a backup, save to cloud, or create an online room.
Local saving: works without signing in. The same browser profile keeps your uploaded files and campaigns.
Cloud saving: sign in through Online & cloud, then save a private copy. It includes private DM notes and uploaded assets. Your account owns that copy. Cloud copies use the Site's server storage.
Automatically save changes is optional. A save conflict pauses it so you can choose the current copy. Keep a downloaded backup before changing devices.
What do players receive?
Present to players shows the chosen scene, portrait, map or story text. A local player display works in the same browser profile. An online room works across devices for signed-in players who also have Site access.
Room links do not grant Site access. The owner must grant access separately. Players receive the shared board and presented visuals. Hidden enemies, private notes, saved campaigns and private conversation notes are removed from the player response.
Online players also receive their own assigned hero sheets and backpack entries. Other characters’ bags remain private. Quest titles are shared only when the DM selects them in Journey → Sessions.
Assign heroes in Online & cloud → Player room. Players request actions on their turn; the DM reviews them. A pending request can be cancelled before approval. The DM's player preview is readonly.
Closing a room removes its shared server copy. Your local campaign and separate cloud backups remain.
How do I make a full backup?
Open Campaign files → Download backup. The JSON file includes your world, story, equipment and uploaded images, static GLBs and MP3s.
Use Campaign files → Open backup on another device. Before replacing the current campaign, the app asks you to download its backup. Check that your download completed and keep it in a safe folder.
Backups may contain private story notes. Share the player display when you want players to see only the presented story.
How do I recover earlier work?
On this device: Campaign files → Version history keeps recent checkpoints. Uploaded 3D files still depend on this browser's file store. A full downloaded backup carries those files too.
In cloud: Online & cloud → Earlier versions shows the latest ten saved versions. Restoring makes a new version and downloads the outgoing local campaign first.
From Trash: open Online & cloud → Trash, then Restore to library. Open the restored campaign to reconnect cloud saving.
Storage limits and large uploads
Device upload forms explain each format and limit. Uploaded images are resized and stored as WebP. Use static GLB models with embedded textures and MP3 audio.
Cloud supports ten active campaigns, ten saved versions each, 8 MB of campaign data per snapshot, and 200 MB combined logical storage. Online rooms offer ten private numbered slots per DM and eight players per room. Each DM has their own Rooms 1-10; invite codes identify the correct group. Available slots consume no storage until started.
Uploaded images, GLBs and MP3s are stored as separate private files. Repeated saves reuse the same file instead of adding another copy. The 8 MB limit now applies to campaign data; files still count toward the 200 MB account total. A downloaded backup includes the actual files, so it stays portable.
Remove unused cloud files deletes only files not referenced by saved campaigns, earlier versions or active rooms. New uploads are protected for 24 hours. Trashed campaigns keep their versions and files until permanently deleted.
On slower devices, choose 3D quality → Lightweight above the board. Player displays have their own 3D quality button.
Player connection lost or an action is waiting?
Player actions are requests. The DM must approve them before the battle changes. While a request is waiting, other request buttons are paused. Open Your recent requests to see the result or cancel a pending request.
If the connection drops, the last map stays visible and actions pause. Retry connection, or wait for the next automatic check. After reconnecting, check recent requests before sending the same action again. The app keeps your selected destination and target if the same character is still active.
If a room is closed, expired or access was removed, ask the DM for a current room link and Site access. A room code alone does not grant Site access.
Remove a copy safely
Move a cloud campaign to Trash to hide it from the active library. Its versions still use storage. Restore it any time.
Delete permanently removes that cloud campaign and its versions. Download a backup first, then type DELETE when ready. Local copies and downloaded backups remain separate.
Clearing your browser's website data removes local campaigns, uploaded files and checkpoints. It does not remove separate cloud backups or files you downloaded.
Build a map faster and use large monsters
In Map Studio, turn Drag objects on to move a piece or scenery object. Empty ground still turns the camera. Use Edit an area / room layouts to copy, move or remove several objects by coordinates.
Save scenery layouts to reuse decorations and ground heights. Characters are excluded from saved scenery layouts. Copies of an area create separate characters; moving an area keeps the originals. Undo restores changes.
Battlefield → Piece → Squares occupied sets a footprint from 1×1 to 4×4. Large pieces need clear, level ground and cannot fit through a narrow gap. Their square outline marks the occupied area. Old campaign pieces keep their saved size.
Build and run a connected adventure
Use Campaign → Guided campaign setup for one step at a time: world map, locations, story people, heroes, backpacks, story and battle. The guide can be resumed after editing and checks actual content. Do this later does not mark a step prepared.
Use Characters → Guided character builder for editable homebrew roles, spells and equipped starting gear. Add the hero to the map when ready.
Journey connects Travel, People & shops, Story templates and Sessions. Create routes, track time, configure conversations and stock, or add reusable story steps without AI.
Start a session to record events, pause play, write a recap and search earlier sessions. Choose the goals players may see. Conditions & reactions in Battlefield tracks duration; reaction attacks remain a DM decision.
Open JourneyEdit character details, stats and race presets
Map Studio → Pieces → Edit details & stats opens a named list of map heroes, enemies and saved templates. Edit the name, side, race and role. Save current health and spell points, edit base maximums, or fill to the equipment-adjusted maximum. Open Combat stats for defense, speed, attack bonus, damage and range. Ability scores and notes stay folded until needed. Zero HP shows a grave marker; restoring HP revives the piece.
Character presets contains20 editable homebrew heroes from10 races. Add a hero to the map or save a reusable template. Six roles now use new modular race miniatures. Map Studio → Pieces → Collection → Detailed fantasy shows six heroes and ten distinct creatures. Other profiles reuse the named artwork; upload a GLB for another appearance. Saved template edits do not change copies already placed; new copies start with full HP and SP.
Custom abilities, enemies and preparing a session
Campaign → Overview → Session check finds missing ammunition and broken story links. Optional suggestions stay collapsed and do not stop play. Saved battles → Check current battle difficulty considers current HP and expected weapon output; it is a rough homebrew estimate, not official challenge rating.
Open Enemy library in Saved battles, or Enemy presets in Map Studio. Choose one of 26 reusable opponents, a strength and a group size. New and existing miniatures are available with red enemy previews; names, statistics and suggested loot can be adapted to your campaign.
Characters → Custom character actions creates attacks, healing and temporary shields with dice, range, SP and action costs, cooldowns and a map effect. Use them in Battlefield → Actions → Custom actions. A one-turn cooldown skips the next own turn.
Journey → People & shops → Share people with players explicitly enables local NPCs. Set the shared shopping purse there first. Online players can request dice rolls, shared topics, purchases and their own custom abilities. The DM approves each request; dice alone do not pass a check automatically.
Reading battle results
After Roll attack, a large result at the top of Actions shows Hit, Miss or Critical hit, the attack total against defense, damage and remaining HP. Open How this roll was calculated for the dice details. A short message also appears on the map. Full screen keeps the map message separate from its buttons; opening Turn controls shows the complete result.
Payments, AI and getting help
AI generation and checkout are disabled setup placeholders in this review build. No payment provider or subscription charge is active.
Use Help inside the workspace for short visual instructions. If a feature fails, keep your current backup and note the page, button, expected result and what happened. Avoid including room codes or private story notes in screenshots you share.
Customer support contact, service terms and the final privacy policy need the owner's setup before a paid public launch.
This guide describes the current app behavior. Product and support setup are still being reviewed.
